RoHS 3

We often get asked if our products are RoHS 3 compliant, well the answer is yes and no. RoHS 3 is an incorrect term for RoHS 2 with amendment 2015/863 to Annex II.

In a nutshell, 4 new substances have been added to RoHS 2 directive 2011/65/EU. A new directive has not been created yet. The deadline for products to meet the 2015/863 amendment is 19th July 2019 and we are working towards full compliance by then. The list of substances restricted is now 10 as below..

RoHS 2 2011/65/EU

Lead (0,1 %)
Mercury (0,1 %)
Cadmium (0,01 %)
Hexavalent chromium (0,1 %)
Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) (0,1 %)
Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE) (0,1 %)

Amendment 2015/863

Bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) (0,1 %)
Butyl benzyl phthalate (BBP) (0,1 %)
Dibutyl phthalate (DBP) (0,1 %)
Diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP) (0,1 %)

For further information (if you really want to read Annex II) please see the European Commision explanation rather than 3rd party information incorrectly calling it RoHS 3..

RoHS 2 Amendment 2015/863.
