What is HDMI 2.0?

HDMI v2.0 is the latest HDMI Specification with the same features but with a higher bandwidth of 18Gbps, it does not define new cables or new connectors. Current High Speed cables (category 2 cables) are capable of carrying the increased bandwidth and can be classed as HDMI v2.0.

One confusion that is common, is that cables are referred to as HDMI v2.0, there is no such thing. It is the devices interface that is HDMI v2.0. While the ports look the same it is the technology behind it that counts.

Don't get fooled by expensive cables, they make no difference.
